Course Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:
-Describe five factors that regulate acculturative stress in Hispanic clients.
-Explain three counseling process for Hispanic and Asian clients.
-Discuss the dynamics between transference and countertransference in treating culturally different clients.
-Explain distortions, projection, exclusion and social microcosm.
-Name the four steps of the Transcultural Integrative Model.
-Explain what has led to the failure in counseling programs and ultimately to ineffective cross-cultural counseling experiences.
-Explain what awareness enables certified counselors to guard the individual rights and personal dignity of the client in the counseling relationship.
-Name the five stances.
-Name two aspects of Cultural Awareness and Social Diversity.
